Co-founder and CEO of SmarterDx. Mike started SmarterDx when he discovered how many revenue and quality opportunities hospitals were leaving on the table while he was leading AI at NewYork-Presybterian. As CEO, Mike has guided SmarterDx’s trajectory, including being named a company that “could upend healthcare” (Business Insider) and achieving 100% client satisfaction (KLAS Research).
Prior to SmarterDx, Mike was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell and Medical Director for Transformation for NewYork-Presbyterian. He completed his BS at the University of California Los Angeles, his MD at the University of Michigan, and his Internal Medicine Residency and Silverman Fellowship for Healthcare Innovation at NewYork-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell.
When he’s not working on SmarterDx, Mike enjoys trying new restaurants in the city and going on hikes nearby.
Co-founder and Head of Product and Data Science. Prior to SmarterDx, Josh was an assistant professor and practicing physician at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he also was a NIH- and DOD-funded medical researcher focused on bioinformatics and data science with EHR data.
Josh received his undergraduate degree from Occidental College majoring in Biochemistry and Politics. He then went on to receive his MD from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Weill Cornell.
Outside of life at SmarterDx, you can find Josh spending quality time with his wife and two kids, working out, and getting outdoors as much as possible.
Chief Commercial Officer overseeing sales and marketing functions for SmarterDx. He is passionate about leveraging our one-of-a-kind clinical AI solution to help hospitals capture revenue they have rightfully earned, especially given the mounting financial struggles they continue to face. Wayne says he is inspired working alongside the incredibly smart and enthusiastic Smartians at SmarterDx each day.
Wayne has over 35 years of healthcare executive leadership experience, working closely with high growth organizations in supporting the strategic and tactical needs of hospitals/health systems, health plans, specialty provider networks, and large physician group practices.
Outside of work you can find Wayne traveling (preferably to somewhere with a beach), spending time with his family, or rooting on Philly sports!
Chief Financial Officer, responsible for Finance, People, Legal and related business operations across the organization. Prior to SmarterDx, he has been deeply involved in multiple healthcare tech start-ups at various stages, from founding through successful exits in various executive roles.
Prior to his time in digital health, he started his career at McKinsey working with the country’s largest provider groups. Jonathan completed his BS degree in Economics, Neuroscience, and Math at BYU.
Outside of SmarterDx, he can be found chasing his three little boys, running on trails, or rock climbing.
Vice President of Customer Success. Josh leads SmarterDx's client support, satisfaction, and retention efforts. Prior to SmarterDx, Josh built his career in healthcare analytics, first at McKinsey and then as a founder and early employee at various startups. Through his work, he saw how challenging it can be for health systems to innovate when they cannot trust their own data.
That's why Josh is passionate about using SmarterDx's clinical AI review to help health systems find more margin to invest in care and to build more confidence in those investments.
He lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he spends his free time teaching his kids the joy of board games.
Vice President of People at SmarterDx. Vivian brings a wealth of experience in People leadership across various industries, including tech, finance, and non-profits. She is passionate about fostering an empowering work environment that drives employee engagement and high performance.
Prior to joining SmarterDx, Vivian led innovative People initiatives at multiple companies, focusing on transparent career growth, effective coaching, and building a culture that supports employees in doing their best work. Under her leadership, these organizations achieved significant recognition as top workplaces. Vivian holds a Master of Human Resources Management from York University.
In her free time she enjoys exploring new playgrounds with her two girls and catching the occasional Broadway musical.
Brings a wealth of expertise to his role as Head of Clinical Operations at SmarterDx. In his current capacity, Parimal leverages his extensive clinical background to ensure the delivery of valuable, evidence-based diagnoses to clients. His commitment to innovation and efficiency drives the continuous improvement of processes and protocols within the organization.
With a background steeped in healthcare leadership and clinical excellence, Parimal previously served as Assistant Chief of Hospital Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. He completed his BA at Lehigh University, his MD at Rutgers New Jersey Medicine School, and his Internal Medicine Residency at NewYork-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Parimal is an avid runner and fitness enthusiast. He dedicates his spare time to training for marathons, with a personal goal of completing the “big 5” world marathons. This dedication to personal growth and excellence mirrors his commitment to enhancing healthcare practices and client experiences at SmarterDx.
Head of Engineering at SmarterDx. Overseeing software development, information security, and IT functions. He's passionate about improving healthcare delivery and expanding access to care by helping hospitals capture full compensation for the care they provided, including risk weighting for more complex patient populations.
Before joining SmarterDx, Daniel led engineering at Garner Health, connecting employees to high quality physicians and covering their out-of-pocket expenses. Daniel's background also includes over a decade of experience building mission-critical systems at JP Morgan Chase & Co, Citi, Morgan Stanley, National Australia Bank, Nomura, and Capital One Commercial Bank.
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys exploring New York City’s coffee shops, discovering new restaurants, and catching Broadway shows.
Head of Marketing at SmarterDx, where she brings over a decade of expertise in healthcare marketing strategy, demand generation, and communications. With a passion for advancing healthcare accessibility, efficiency, and quality, Marisa is excited to be sharing the impactful stories of how SmarterDx is doing just that. Prior to SmarterDx, Marisa helped grow healthcare startups within UnitedHealth Group Ventures and Optum Labs, and spent time at Spok, a clinical communication company, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. She completed her BS at Concordia College and MSJ at the Medill School, Northwestern University. In her free time, Marisa enjoys exploring the great outdoors of Minnesota with her husband and two little girls, reading, and traveling.
Director of Product at SmarterDx, bringing extensive expertise in Revenue Cycle Management (RCM). She is dedicated to addressing our clients’ needs by overseeing the continuity of the company’s live product suite and evolving processes to meet the demands of the ever-changing healthcare landscape.
Her passion for healthcare problem-solving began as a revenue cycle consultant, where she gained a foundational understanding of hospital processes by enhancing the revenue cycle operations at over 25 hospitals. In the startup space, Ruth has been instrumental in developing and launching products, product teams, and strategies at HealthVerity and Olive AI.
In her free time, Ruth enjoys attending her children’s sporting events and performances with her husband in Philadelphia. She also loves playing tennis, reading, and traveling with her book club.
Director of Finance, responsible for leading Financial Planning and Analysis and being a financial business partner to functional leaders. Henry has worked in the AI space for over 5 years and joined SmarterDx to accelerate the deployment of AI technology in healthcare.
Prior to SmarterDx, Henry led finance and business operations at an autonomous driving company, playing a critical role in taking the company public and its eventual acquisition. He completed his BS at the University of Alberta.
Outside of work, Henry leads several tech communities in Silicon Valley and serves as a Director and Treasurer of a non-profit organization empowering youth leaders in his Canadian hometown.
Trained as a hospitalist and data scientist, Cmdr Smartian saw firsthand the impact of missing diagnoses in his hospital’s health records. With out-of-this-world abilities, Smartian was able to analyze every chart with clinical reasoning to true each patient record.
